Overview

Council of the Americas hosted a private, off-the-record, in-person briefing in Miami with H.E. Justice Luís Roberto Barroso, president of the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil. The Supreme Federal Court is Brazil's highest judicial body, with jurisdiction over the entire national territory. 

The meeting was an opportunity for Justice Barroso to share his views on Brazil's judicial agenda for the upcoming years and hear key priorities from private sector leaders doing business in the country. 

Justice Barroso is a lawyer from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), has an LLM degree from Yale University, and a PhD from UERJ. He is a visiting scholar at Harvard Law School and senior fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School. He has also served as president of the Superior Electoral Court.
